If you are involved in a motor accident it is important to gather as much information as possible at the accident scene as this may help in achieving the best possible outcome for your claim.
You should take a note of:
- Names, addresses and telephone number of drivers, passengers, witnesses and pedestrians involved
- Vehicle details including make, model, registration number and colour
- The number of passengers in each vehicle
- If the vehicle is owned by a company, please take both the driver and the company details
- Insurance details for the driver of the other vehicle(s), if available
- Name, badge number and force details of any police officer attending
- Details of any injuries to persons involved
- The road name/location where the accident occurred
If you have a camera/mobile phone camera, take some photographs of the accident scene.
Under no circumstances should you admit liability to any party as this may prejudice your own or your insurer’s position in dealing with any claim made by you or against you.
