Security

Discounts can be given for tagging devices, immobilisers and trackers. In most circumstances you will be asked to provide proof that the security device you have declared is fitted to your motorcycle.

Advanced Training

If you have successfully completed additional training on your motorcycle with bodies such as the Driving Standards Agency or the Institute of Advanced Motorists you may be entitled to a discount on your premium. Enter details of the scheme or contact us on 01224 848382 for details. If you are receiving a discount you will be required to provide evidence of the qualification.

Ownership

Many insurers will give substantial discounts based on the length of ownership. This can be up to 20% if you have owned the motorcycle for four or more years.

Mileage

The fewer miles you ride the more discount you will receive. If you do not use your motorcycle to travel to work, exclude commuting to reduce your premium even further. It is important that you do not under estimate your mileage as this may result in a claim being rejected or not paid in full.

Garaging

Keeping your motorcycle in a garage can entitle you to discounts of up to 15%. In order to qualify the garage must at your home address and must be of brick or stone construction, with a roof and locking door. If your motorcycle is garaged away from home, or kept in a wooden shed you may still be entitled to a discount, please call us on 01224 848382 to check. Terms may apply.

Excess

All ‘Comprehensive’ and Third party, Fire & Theft policies carry a Compulsory Excess. This is the amount you will be asked to contribute in the event of a claim. Discounts are available if you select a Voluntary Excess though you should be aware that this amount will be added to the Compulsory Excess applying in the event of a claim. Please note: the total excess applying cannot exceed the value of your motorcycle.

Drive a Car or Van?

If you hold at least 1 year no claims bonus earned on a motorcycle, you may be entitled to enhanced discounts based on your no claims bonus earned on a car or van. To qualify for these discounts the car or van policy must be current and held in your name. You must be a regular user of the car or van and you will be asked to provide evidence of the entitlement.
